The Lane Evans Collection

Lane Evans (b. August 4, 1951) served as a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from 1983 until 2007, representing the 17th District of Illinois. In 1983 Evans proposed the Agent Orange compensation bill and, against strong opposition, pushed it to unanimous passage in Congress in January 1991. The Lane Evans collection includes summaries of Congressional hearings, letters to and from other members of the Senate and House of Representatives, articles discussing Agent Orange-related legislation and more. All documents were obtained through collaboration with the Western Illinois University Library.
