Submitting Military Records or other Textual Documents
The simplest way to submit textual records is to email us a scanned copy. If you are not able to scan your documents it is usually sufficient to take a photograph of each page and submit the photographs as image files, so long as the text is readable (see the "Submitting Photographs" section for further details). If it is not possible for you to submit your documents electronically you may submit a hard copy to this address. Please note that we are not able to return any documents submitted to us, so if you would like to retain your originals it is best to send us a photocopy.
Submitting Photographs
As with textual records, the best way to submit photographs is to email us a digital file. These files may be quite large in size, so we ask that you submit in a compressed image format, preferrably JPEG. Adobe PDF files containing images are also acceptible. If you have paper photographs you wish to digitize it is best to scan them, as this yields a higher quality image. If you have very large image files, please contact us to make other arrangements for submission. You may send a hard copy to this address, but again we are not currently able to return hard copies sent to us.
Submitting Videos
Videos are the most difficult documents to submit, and in general it will not be possible for the average person to make digital copies of reels or cassettes. We are not equipped to make copies of these documents either, so we ask that you contact us rather than sending us original media. Digital video files will almost always exceed the 10 megabyte file size limit, so if you have digital files please contact us to make other arrangements.
Submitting Links to Relevant Websites
To submit a link to a website, simply paste the link into the body of an email message. Please check to make sure that each web address is correct and that the website is accessible at the time of your submission.
